In September of 2006, your company was presented with a report detailing severe labor rights abuses in several of the factories producing its goods. One of these factories was the Shenzhen based Huang Xing Factory, where workers suffer egregious violations of their basic rights, such as wages below the statutory minimum, mandatory, uncompensated overtime, and unprotected and excessive exposure to harmful chemicals. Over one month ago, our organization, as well as several other human and labor rights organizations around the world, attempted to follow up with you in regards to this particular case. [...]

It was recently brought to the WRC’s attention by several different
sources that one of Disney’s suppliers, the Shenzhen-based Huang Xing
factory, has suddenly shut down and is not paying its 800 former
employees the severance and other benefits that they are due under
Chinese law. I write to encourage Disney to move swiftly in addressing
this urgent matter.
